marc-jacobs-lola-perfumeThe eccentric designer Marc Jacobs adds another fragrance to the collection, Lola.

Jacobs used leather as his inspiration, as well as the seductive attributes of a woman for  the bottle design.  With a mixture of  florals and exotic fruits; this perfume needs to be in my possession now! Rose, vanilla, creamy musk, pear, and ruby red grapefruit are just a few of the elements that make up the eau de parfum.

Dress for Success October 27, 2009

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring10-2

If it’s one thing I love about Phillip Lim, and there are many things, it’s his dresses.  Down to the very last interlock stitch, everything is perfect.  Paying attention to clever details; open-back slits, exposed zippers, pleats, Phillip Lim knows a thing or two on how to design a fabulous dress.

For the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2010 collection, he plays with one of the seasons hottest trends: leather.  Who knew you could mix leather and silk and make a beautiful, graceful piece?  Lim knows how to create “the look”; from the accessories to the shoes, everything works.

These two looks are perfect for the professional woman: sophisticate enough for the job, but sexy enough for after-work cocktails.

Classic Trench

Burberry HB

Shame on you if you don’t have at least one Trench Coat in your wardrobe by spring.  A Chanel suit is not the only thing that never goes out of style; Burberry’s foundation was built on the trench and continues to build its brand upon it.  A classic Burberry (left) is worth the money- it will last forever, with the proper care of course.

But don’t think you have to stick to the old fashioned style like your grandfather, or mother; Alberta Ferretti gives her interpretation of the classic for her 2010 Resort line.  Paired with the right bag and shoes, this trench could be worn alone (aaooww!)

Alexander Wang gets daring with an all white number in his Resort 2010 collection; adding detailed sleeves and a wrap-closure concept.

With these coats, I bet you’d pray for it to rain.

The Shoe Bootie October 26, 2009

Prada crepe cut-out2Yes booties are in, but the shoe bootie is a girl’s best friend.  Combining the height and coverage of a boot, but adding the essentials of a “shoe”; cut outs, peep-toes, the shoe bootie makes it easy to transform your wardrobe from fall to spring.

Love these Prada, crepe cut-out platforms.  Although cut-outs were considered a fashion faux pas in the 90’s, the trend is creeping back into the world of style.  The question is for how long? Made (in Italy) of suede with a leather sole, I’d say these lovies would stay in my wardrobe for as long as they hold up!

Also available in Black.

This time three years ago, Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala had their first fashion show for the Los Angeles based label William Rast.  Offering casual wear and premium denim for both men and women, Rast has been seen on many a celebrity.  The name “William Rast” derives from Timberlake’s grandfather’s first name and Ayala’s grandmother’s last name; keeping this a family affair, which is a great image for the label.

This fall, William Rast is going with the trends of Spring; keeping the western-cowboy look alive with fringe, flannels, and boots.  Tailored jackets and pants also made the cut, making you wonder if the tailor who made Justin Timberlake’s great suits is on the payroll with William Rast.

The Leotard

Just when I thought Beyonce and Carrie Bradshaw (in season four) were the only ones  to get away with a one-piece leotard or bloomer-style pant as a regular get-up, designers were sending their interpretations of the look down the runway for Spring ’09.

Alexander Wang went with the sportswear, underwear-style brief approach; while Bottega Veneta geared for a more feminine look with a belted waist.  If I were that bold, I would hop on this trend asap.

Jimmy Choo for H&M

Although this news is late (H&M released its collab idea this past summer) I didn’t have a blog and its still news!

Designer Jimmy Choo, best known for their infamous women’s shoes, is teaming up with the stylish Swedish retailer H&M.  Available November 14th in over 200 select stores, the brand will add a level of sophistication to the store’s presence.

Jimmy Choo launched his line in 1996 with British Vogue accessories editor Tamara Mellon and has been heavy on the London scene.  After this meeting with H&M, I can guarantee “Jimmy Choo” will become a house hold name, but in a good way.

Unlike its designer-brand collaboration with Roberto Cavalli, this is the first time H&M has worked with an accessories line.  The icing on top of the cake? Choo will not only bring women’s shoes, but will offer women’s clothing and accessories; as well as MEN’S shoes, bags, and accessories.  Sweet deal.
